Final Outcome Presentation
Completed Real-life Mockup
I am quite happy with my outcome! I feel that it looks interesting and clean, and while the edges of the backboard may be a little shabby, I feel that I have worked well with the materials I had at hand. I am really happy with the way my menu turned out, the design is very clean and sleek, and the gradient on the page isn't too obvious, which is intended. I also feel that the backboards wooden effect is also quite good. It took a while for the ring binders to arrive as I ordered them online, but once I had them it was easy to add them to the backboard, measuring the hole punch diameter was probably the most difficult part of this final presentation. I did find it difficult to cut the backboard out, since I was cutting it out in rigid cardboard, and because of it's numerous curves and angles. The devil tail was especially difficult as it is a curve which then suddenly juts out into an angle. I actually attempted this once before, but since the cutting was so messy and un-polished, I decided to try it again. This was my second attempt at cutting it out, and I feel that it looks a lot better than my first attempt by far. I would have preferred to use a ring binder which had a flat back to it, so that it could easily be displayed upon a wall, however I couldn't find any to buy online, so I had to make do with two individual binders instead.
I feel that the outcome is relatively professional, although I do feel that it could still use/and be refined in future, however, at this moment in time I feel that this outcome has done well, and that it serves it's purpose well. I think that this outcome has an interesting and fun feel to it, without being too wacky or out-there. I am happy with the way the wooden effect on the cardboard came out, as I had some worries about how it would look when actually scaled and printed. I feel that the darker tone of the backboard contrasts slightly with the light gradient on the menu and draws attention to the menus presence, I also feel that the backboard kind of "shadows" the menus logo in a way.
My target audience was relatively wide, and included families with kids, so I didn't want the aesthetic to be focused on the scary side of halloween, I have taken the theme of satan and given it a more family friendly feel by using softer colours and giving the logo/mascot a cheeky and mischevious feel as opposed to an intimidating or scary one. While this means that it will appeal to more general audiences, people who are specifically looking for something scary or gorey, will probably avoid this restaurant, due to it's lack of focus on that side of halloween. The use of a backboard also re-inforces the family-friendly appeal, as wooden backboards are commonly used in grill style family restaurants to simulate a warm and homely atmosphere.
This might not be obvious to customers, but the image the logo is trying to communicate is a devilish, mischevious plate, that bears characteristics of the devil himself. I feel that the shading and depth added to the logo further emphasizes this imagery. The logo could also be communicating in some way that the food is devilish and mischevious, or even fun in its themes too. I feel that the message this corporate package is trying to communicate is that this restaurant is welcoming a comfortable, however, mischief may be involved. The package could also communicate that the food is "devilishly good" or "satanically sumptious", or even sinful in some way.
I feel that the fonts chosen work well and make sense in terms of design, and that the fonts used emphasize the originality and proffessionalism of my outcome and design package. Overall, I am satisfied with this outcome and don't really have much more to add, I am happy with it, and despite its flaws here and there, mostly due to my lack of experience in the practical side of graphic design, I feel I did well with my skills at this moment in time.
I feel that the messages this package communicates and relays to the customer are intended, and the design does a good, interesting, fun and efficient job at communicating this. I feel that the choice of colour and components, as well as the simple layout, effectively communicates that this restaurant is happy to welcome all ages, and hopes to entertain customers somewhat as well.
I will be uploading more pictures of this outcome once it is displayed upon the wall in my training department, and will also briefly analyse the sucess of the presentation as well.

Completed LOGO
I am very pleased with the way my logo turned out! It looks interesting and professional, and despite having highlights and a gradient, very sleek. I feel that while there are quite a few comoponents to my logo, nothing is overpowering, and it doesn't look busy. The font used has a michevious effect to it, which gives it a little bit of a childish feel. I really like the combination of green and orange, I feel that it looks very stylish and cool. When creating my logo, difficulties I encountered were creating the shading and giving it depth, getting the shape of the highlight in the middle of the logo took a little while, as the colour had to be just right, in then end I ended up using white, and just lowering the opacity to make it blend in more. I am satisfied with this outcome, and I really feel that I did my best with my current skills and have created an interesting, unique and fun logo design. I definitely feel that there is further potential to this logo design, and that the idea and sketches behind it relate well to the final outcome of my logo and communicate my thought-processes and design inspiration efficiently.
Completed Menu Layout
Here is my completed menu layout! I am really happy with this outcome as I feel I have achieved everything I set out to do. The layout is organised, clean, simple and stylish! The pages have a slight gradient added to them, which gives the layouts background it's depth and smooth-ness, I find that a blank, block coloured background just looks flat and is just "there" as opposed to drawing the eye to the centre of the page itself. I also feel that giving a layout a slight, almost unnoticeable gradient makes it easier on the eyes. The layout also looks really neat when printed, which was a relief as sometimes there can be a difference between how a design looks on screen, and how it looks when finally printed and cropped. I feel that the logo sits and works well with the layout and that all the elements make sense, communicate the theme and compliment each other nicely and efficiently. It took a while to get the placement of the text and pound-sterling signs correct and perfected, but in the end with the help of the text marker and invisible character settings within InDesign, me and my tutor managed to sort it out and make sure that every page was perfectly aligned. I am very happy and satisfied with this layout, and don't really think that anything can be improved.
Completed BackBoard
I am relatively satisfied with this outcome, it could be better and idealistically we would've made my backboard out of actual wood. However, I am happy with the effect I created using Illustrator. One difficutly we had when printing was getting the digital size correctly proportioned to the size it would be when printed out, however, sorting this out didn't take long and once we had figured this out, printing it out was relatively easy to do. I had a little difficulty making the wooden effect seamless, and as you can see here, there is still a tiny line running along the shape width-ways. Apart from this little detail, I am happy with the way this outcome came out, and I feel that it greatly compliments the menu design and works with it well. I don't have much more to say regarding this outcome as I feel that it is of a high standard and that I put great effort into making this component of my overall outcome. The reason I chose a wood effect for my backboard was because I wanted my menu to convey and give out a warm, homely and welcoming atmosphere as all ages would possibly be dining there.
