Illustrator Ideas
The first ideas I decided to sketch out were the Illustrator ideas, I decided to sketch these ideas first as I thought Illustrator would be the most difficult tool to use, and also because creating cartoon illustrations is more complex than creating them in Photoshop, although the benefit of being able to scale something up or down without losing quality also made me excited to get started creating with the program.
Idea 1
The first idea I came up with was a digitally created portrait of the pretend artist I had made up called "Blue Lips", I also decided to call the album "Disco Lights" as my album was Disco themed. I thought that this cover could work really well as it portrays the artist, and also includes a lure on the design. The colour scheme would've been pink, white, blue and purple, maybe orange too, I decided upon these colours as they are typically used to represent Disco music. I wanted this design to be a little easy going and have the artist staring vacantly into the distance.
Idea 2
I wanted this idea to be a little less complex, and more personal, by making the artist look straight at the viewer this creates a connection, I wanted this to be a very simple cartoonish portrait, as opposed to the more realistic looking idea above, the colour scheme would be the same as the last idea, again because those colours represent disco. This idea was also inspired by cartoons and manga, I have always been interested in that style of art and have had some experience drawing in this style so I thought that I would be in my element if I used this design.
In the end I decided to use this design as one of my mock ups as I felt I could do this design well and it would look professional, also because I have experience with cartoon and manga illustration so I felt like I was in my own depth wiht this idea.

idea 3
Again, the design is very cartoonish, although I wanted this cover to have a more serious look to it, I also wanted to use some objects, that are associated with disco such as the obvious disco balls as facial features. I wanted the portrait to be contained within the heart shape, like a frame. As you can see below I decided to use disco balls for the eyes, I felt that this also fit in with the heart shape, as having disco balls for eyes, could be like having hearts for eyes as they show in cartoons, to signify that a character is infatuated or in love. In this instance, the message would be "the character loves disco", that was the main idea behind this design.
Idea 4
Now, for the last design I thought it would be a good idea to do something different, so instead of using a portrait of the artist I decided to use an object that is related to disco, for this I decided a disco ball would be obvious, and also simple and easy to create design wise, because of the obviousness I thought that it would translate to people well, and that they would instantly know which genre the album was in.
